How to Use the Sensor Correctly?

08. 27, 2020

As a Bipolar Hall IC China Factory, share with you. Before using the sensor and Hall sensor, be sure to verify the working power supply voltage level and whether the measurement range is consistent with the measured signal! Avoid misuse and mixing of different voltages.

In order to facilitate the reference, the following discusses the correct use of the sensor from several aspects.

1. Use environment

Sensor and Hall sensor should be free from conductive dust, metal corrosive and insulating gas. Otherwise, a secondary circuit will occur due to conductive dust and objects, or a short circuit between the secondary side power supply and the signal will burn out the sensor.

1.1 Ambient temperature

The sensor's specifications will stipulate the normal working ambient temperature range of the sensor, such as -40 to 85 degrees, depending on the product model. It is recommended not to exceed the temperature range specified in the specification, or exceed the normal operating temperature range of the sensor. Some internal components will degrade performance due to temperature characteristics, reduce accuracy, output signal inaccuracy, or fail to work.

The sensor should be installed as far as possible in a place with good ventilation and heat dissipation, so as to avoid excessive temperature affecting the measurement accuracy and life of the sensor.

1.2 Altitude

Generally, the altitude is considered when the sensor is designed, and it is usually 2000 meters. However, it is not only suitable for altitudes below 2000 meters. If the altitude exceeds 2000 meters in actual use, it will mainly affect the heat dissipation and insulation performance of the sensor. Will reduce the insulation characteristics, although the insulation can also be improved by external means, but it is difficult to achieve and increase the cost. The heat dissipation problem can be solved relatively easily by means such as forced air cooling.

1.3 Installation location

Since the sensor is a non-contact measurement, most of it detects the magnetic field around the charged conductor, so it is not suitable to have a strong magnetic field near the sensor and a device that easily generates a magnetic field. Including transformers, reactors and conductors that flow large, etc. Especially in the three-phase test, adjacent sensors should not be installed too close. Where space permits, the spacing should be as large as possible.

Sometimes limited by the cabinet and its internal layout, it is difficult to leave enough space. In this case, it is recommended that the sensor be installed in a wrong position, especially for the HALL principle sensor. The position of the HALL device should be the magnetic field source as much as possible.
